Cupping Therapy

This method of creating local suction on the skin is used to mobilize blood flow, alleviate pain, and promote healing.  Cupping is an excellent tool for treating the tight, achy muscles that accompany a cold, flu, or physical injury.

moxibustion, moxa, acupuncture heat therapy, mugwort, artimesia, Chinese medicine
Moxibustion

"Moxa" is a heat therapy in which the dried herb Artimesia is burned near the surface of acupuncture points.  The intention is to warm and invigorate the qi (energy) flow of the body and dispel certain pathogens.  Great for boosting immunity and increasing vitality.

gua sha, acupuncture accessory technique, Chinese medicine
Gua Sha

In this treatment, the skin is stimulated by scraping with a smooth-edged tool to produce raised redness or bruising.  Gua sha is fantastic for breaking up stagnation and relieving pain.  Asthma, bronchitis, colds, fibromyalgia, strains, sprains, and muscle spasms all respond well to gua sha therapy.

E-stim, electric stimulation acupuncture, electro-stimulation acupuncture, Chinese medicine
Electro-stimulation Acupuncture

This technique uses the same points and treatment principles of acupuncture but offers additional stimulation.  Needles are attached to a device that sends a continuous electrical pulse into the body.  "E-stim" is used in treating pain, muscle spasms, and neurological issues.
